It is hard to argue with Gerry Lynch, writing on Slugger O’Toole that it has been a good week for Global Democracy.
I dont know how Gerry Lynch feels about the decision that the East Belfast hustings involving only two political parties, the Alliiance Party and DUP.
Gerry Lynch as well as being a number cruncher is a former official of the Alliance Party. Indeed for Westminster 2010, he was the Alliance Party candidate in East Antrim.
As you will see, Slugger O’Toole is only one of the organisers of this event. Another organiser is Lucid Talk , a local polling organisation.
Indeed Lucid Talk will be conducting a poll of the audience fifteen minutes before the event. Notwithstanding the kindly words of Alan Meban of Slugger O’Toole that “supporters of other parties are welcome”, I cannot see a lot of Sinn Féin, SDLP and Green Party supporters showing up to an event which does not respect them enough to treat them as an equal.
Can we guess that Sinn Féin, Greens and SDLP will not figure much in the Lucid Talk poll? We can probably assume that the result of such a poll will confirm it is a two horse race.
I have written to Lucid Talk to ask if they are happy with this event. I will report any reply. It might even come from …..er Gerry Lynch (the former Alliance Party official and candidate and advocate of Global Democracy) who is shown as a “consultant” on the Lucid Talk website.
