“A Good Week For Global Democracy” (Gerry Lynch)

It is hard to argue with Gerry Lynch, writing on Slugger O’Toole that it has been a good week for Global Democracy.

I dont know how Gerry Lynch feels about the decision that the East Belfast hustings involving only two political parties, the Alliiance Party and DUP.

Gerry Lynch as well as being a number cruncher is a former official of the Alliance Party. Indeed for Westminster 2010, he was the Alliance Party candidate in East Antrim.

As you will see, Slugger O’Toole is only one of the organisers of this event. Another organiser is Lucid Talk , a local polling organisation.

image Indeed Lucid Talk will be conducting a poll of the audience fifteen minutes before the event. Notwithstanding the kindly words of Alan Meban of Slugger O’Toole that “supporters of other parties are welcome”, I cannot see a lot of Sinn Féin, SDLP and Green Party supporters showing up to an event which does not respect them enough to treat them as an equal.

Can we guess that Sinn Féin, Greens and SDLP will not figure much in the Lucid Talk poll? We can probably assume that the result of such a poll will confirm it is a two horse race.

I have written to Lucid Talk to ask if they are happy with this event. I will report any reply. It might even come from …..er Gerry Lynch (the former Alliance Party official and candidate and advocate of Global Democracy) who is shown as a “consultant” on the Lucid Talk website.

  1. Richard Judd says:

Do you know if Lucid Talk are doing a Poll in South Belfast?

Did you see the SDLP election broadcast? I thought it was pretty good.

    • I dont know about South Belfast.
I know that Lucid Talk attended the 2013 SDLP Conference and made a frringe presentation on polling.
Liam Clark of Belfast Telegraph and Chambre PA were on the panel.
Lucid Talk actually did a poll at the Conference at the behest of Belfast Telegraph…on Alasdair McDonnells leadership.
I think a former PRO of UUP is a top man in Chambrre PA and they are also involved in this crap.
Polling firms are commissioned so I suppose if commissioned by Belfast Telegraph, Lucid Talk would conduct a poll.
I thought the SDLP broadcast was the best SDLP one I have seen….but some previous ones were awful.
