Paschal O’Hare RIP

Saddened to learn of the death of Paschal O’Hare, the prominent Belfast solicitor.
Paschal was a member of SDLP in the 1970s. He actually tried to get the SDLP nomination for the West Belfast seat in one of the 1974 General Elections. There was actually a contest between him and Gerry Fitt.
A very nice man.
He left SDLP in the mid 1980s.

Ar deis De go raibh a anam.

Sorry to hear that. I remember he used to have an office at the top of the Limestone Rd – where Cassidy’s bar is now. Any idea why Paschal left the SDLP?

    • His family also lived around Limestone Road.
He left shortly after the Anglo-Irish Agreement.
I dont know if he was actually a member of the Party at the time of his death but I know that he was in good standing within the Party.
