It was perhaps inevitable after the G8 Summit that “British” police would be flown into Norn Iron for the Twelfth.
There is perhaps a great principle for Republicans. BRITISH police!!!! In Norn Iron???
Personally I am very relaxed about it all. If “British” policemen start battering nationalist residents off their own streets, I will be of course outraged.
On the other hand, if they start battering the Orange camp followers…I suppose I could live it.
The most likely scenario is that the “British” police will be on traffic duty and routine amiable patrolling in small places like Rathfriland or Moneymore. They will be well away from the action. They will be using their cellphones and posting pics on Facebook. And tweeting the wife and/or girlfriend back home in London, Grimsby and Margate.
” Me and an Orangeman”
” Me and a Lambeg Drum”
One or two might get berated by some nutter in the field at Bally-Go-Backwards. But …the overtime money will be handy.
But no epic poem. “Into the Valley of Death Rode the Six Hundred…,”
I dont know if it could start a precedent.
PSNI officers policing the Notting Hill Carnival perhaps.
But …if money is no object… why not just fly the Orangemen, their bands and supporters to England for the day. Residents in Ardoyne would be delighted. Not sure what they would make of it all in London, Grimsby and Margate.

Why do police north of the border allow lots of tyres to be burnt, in these fires, when it’s illegal to do so?
David Ford – justice minister – why does he not insist on stopping the burning of tyres?
Is it bad for the environment , that’s why its illegal you see.
In fairness, they are trying to standardise and sanitise bonfires.
Ultimately they cant sanitise the hatred.
Factual.
MXXXXXXX Ford…

Daily Mail readers not to happy about Loyalist Bonfires read some of the comments.

To see ourselves as others see us.
I thought that the whole Twelfth situation was nasty and bigoted. Now that I find readers of the Daily Mail think the same way, I may have to revise my opinion…
Its not easy when the Daily Mail agrees with us.
So long as you don’t send the Orangemen, their bands and supporters to Glasgow, I don’t mind where they go. We had enough of them here last Saturday for the big Scottish parade. Once is enough, thanks.
Incidentally, did you know that there are more Orange parades in Glasgow than in Belfast?
On the day i read of a off duty Scottish Policeman ending up in court over wrecking Celtic Park toilets at an Old Firm last year, i doubt sending any plod from within a 100 miles of Glasgow could in anyway be neutral, which of course they ain’t.
I saw a few English policemen getting a briefing in Tandragee tonight.
By the way, in Tescos tonight a lot of heavily tattooed knuckle-draggers wearing Rangers tops and filling trolleys with beer.
