People Before Profit: Eamonn McCann.
DUP: Gary Middleton.
Conservative: Alan Dunlop.
UUP: Julia Kee.
Green: Mary Hassan.
CISTA: John Lindsay.
Alliance: Chris McCaw.
Independent: Maurice Devenney.
Independent: Dr Ann McCloskey.
Independent: Kathleen Bradley.
The Spiritual Home of SDLP…John Hume, Mark Durkan and now Colum Eastwood all being Derry people. SDLP lead the Sinn Féin by three seats to two and all five outgoing MLAs are standing gain. Joining the Sinn Féin slate is Martin McGuinness, a Derry man of course, who is de-camped from Mid Ulster.
It will maybe make the first preferences more even. Ultimately SDLP are more transfer-friendly.
DUP hold a seat but there is friction between Gary Middleton (who was co-opted to replace Maurice Devenney so that battle will be interesting.
The fly in the Foyle ointment is Eamonn McCann. He could affect the result. And there is speculation that Pro-Lifer Dr Ann McCloskey could run well.
Prediction….SDLP 3, Sinn Féin 2, DUP 1.
Sinn Féin is targeting a gain at SDLP expense here; SF wouldn’t move McGuinness unless they were pretty sure it would bring in another MLA I would have thought.
Are you actually a real person?
Zero chance of SF gain here. Diver loss to McCann is the risk.
I am going to predict gains for SF in East Derry, Foyle, and Upper Bann, with a possible loss in West Belfast.
Loss for SDLP in Foyle and Upper Bann and possibly West Belfast.
So are you saying SF will take a unionist seat in east derry
I think SFSiT will be wrong about all 3 of those SF gains. My guesses for final scores (and really hope I’m wrong) – DUP 33, SF 29, UUP 19, SDLP 10 (CE deserves better), Alliance 8, PBP 2, TUV 2, Green 2, Independents 2, UKIP 1.
That would be big losses for nationalists:(
There will be. For the SDLP there are an awful lot of tight battles. As little as 2000 votes could turn that 10 into 15 – they need some luck, are probably overdue it and Eastwood deserves a decent start for his energy. Will they get it?
You could well be right.
