Essentially this District Council is an amalgamation of four DEAs from Antrim and three from Newtownabbey. It is heavily loyalist.

SDLP Perspective.
A good result. Solid performances winning a seat in three Antrim DEAs. And a seat in Newtownabbey. The pleasing aspect will be that Alliance (four seats) and Sinn Fein lost a little ground here.
SDLP lost their Assembly seat in 2011 and will take heart for 2016.
This is David Ford’s home territory so with the likelihood of him stepping down in 2016, Alliance will be a little worried.
