   I believe that Mick Fealty was good enough to offer that he would publish any obituary you wrote on J Kelly, subject to the usual editorial standards being met, and that you did not take up this offer.

     No….I will never write for Slugger.
     I submitted four posts, all of which were eventually posted….usually with the direct assistance of Mick …for which I’m grateful.
     And frankly I am not the sort of person that Slugger would have about the place.
     Lets be clear about the James Kelly lack of obituary.
     Mick…to his immense credit…was on vacation at the time.
     Those running Slugger in his absence either missed or ignored the story.
     Mick has since wondered aloud if he would have published the story had he been on duty.
     Mick is a decent guy…and I think he does himself a disservice.
     He wonders if he would have considered it newsworthy enough.
     Well I think that a 100 year old journalist who worked 82 years in Belfast journalism….is a news story.
     I will continue to point this up and emphasise that I don’t hold Mick responsible.
     Candidly I think it embarrasses him….but he would deny it.
     Slugger at its worst.
