Have you ever had that terrible experience where the Alliance Party have a party political broadcast and you can’t find the remote control to get the gobshites off the TV?
I have always thought the Alliance Party would be dangerous if it had a politician with personality.Wisely David Ford was not in the broadcast….but it is hard to find three MLAs with even less charisma than David Ford….and they managed with Anna Lo, Judith Cochrane and Chris Lyttle.
Interestingly….well almost interestingly….the Alliance Party is a Party for “unionist, nationalist….and those who think differently”. Hmmm….that would be “LetsGetAlongerist”.
to be fair chris lyttle is very good looking and probably one of the best in the chamber
I have been in the Chamber and heard him speak.
I was also in the audience during a hustings advice.
He is not as good looking as I am.
AND he is on the waiting list for Charisma transplant.
the SDLP’s stalwart councillor Connaire McGreevy has tweeted:
“Have to say the @allianceparty broadcast was quite good, modern and fresh and away from trench politics.”
And I have said the opposite.
Who do you believe?
well i only just saw it on you tube. found it anodyne.
i just saw the Alliance Party ad on YouTube. I thought it was really quite empty of political content. there was a clear value of inclusivity expressed, but it came across as anodyne, sugary and saccarine,
Aye….that would be them.
There was no “narrative” in the alliance party peb. A good peb gives you a little stylized story of where we are , where weve come from, and where to in the future.
though patsy did well in the tv debate
Well he certainly did better than Lutton and Molloy of Sinn Fein.
Mr Lutton was due to take part in a webchat with the Belfast Newsletter at Noon today. It has been delayed it is now happening at 12.30pm

The tactic is to maximise the unionist vote. Therefore not a good idea to expose him publicly.
He was totally out of his depth outside the Electoral Office….and Nesbitt had a fixed grin on him.
Exposing him on TV would be a vote loser.
Molloy…it’s SFs election to lose. He doesn’t NEED to be on TV with McGlone and Luttons non appearance gave Molloy a good reason/excuse.
i have a feeling this form of unionist unity where a candidate from neither party stands, is not good, because they are (1) unable to say their views in case it identifies them as more DUP than uup or vice versa, and also because (2) you end up with someone who is not experienced in poltiics being put forward. I think both these factors are the reason the candidate is being shelded.
No he is being shielded to maximise the vote.
Exposure of some candidates increases vote.
Exposure of others (Lutton and Molloy) decreases the vote.
Candidates therefore welcome scrutiny (McGlone and Bullick) or dont welcome scrutiny (Lutton and Molloy)
Break this to the Aloiance party gently but their broadcast was pro Norn Iron, thus pro union ergo a unionist broadcast from a unionist party.
Mind you, did anyone one but liars, naive fools and the disingenuous ever think otherwise?
The Northern Ireland thing is a new idea that has come out of the census where a lot of people were shown to see themselves as NIron.
I see the SDLP party’s parner at Westminster, Labour, has sent Chuka Umunna to the Alliance conference.
Chuka Umunna has just tweeted:
“Thanks for inviting me! Great to meet @allianceparty #APC13”
He is spoken of as next Labour leader and hence this flirtation of the SDLP’s Westminster bed-fellows with Alliance party may upset SDLP grandees.
No it won’t.
There won’t be any Alliance MPs after 2015.
It’s a courtesy visit showing support for a party that has come under attack from un democratic elements in our society. Maybe you would prefer it if he joined the flag protesters outside Belfast City Hall? I believe Simon Hughes is also in attendance. This happens all the time at party conferences in most cases it does not matter a lot.
In the 1970s I walked out of a speech when Conor cruise O’Brien brought fraternal greetings to aSDLP conference. Happy Days.
Simon Hughes is Lib Dem, that is Alliances sister party in the Dail.
The Dail?
Yes it looks as though Simon Hughes drew the short straw.
Hard to imagine anything worse than sitting thru an Alliance Conference.
Here’s Chuka with Mike Nesbitt got to say Mike has some cheek promoting local businesses in Bangor after the 40,000 leaflet fiasco.

Interestingly Glynn Roberts is the alliance Party Chair.
He and his NIIRTA stall are regular exhibitors at all the local Conferences.
